This year's Code for Japan Summit aims to be an event that is easy for beginners to participate in. It's difficult to have a 50-minute session, but some people may be able to talk in 5 minutes. This short presentation tournament welcomes beginners' presentations! We ask the presenters to include "I tried something like this" and "I'm looking for friends because I want to do something like this" in the 5-minute presentation. Everyone, please support their "first presentation"!

Technology-driven city Yokohama 2030 (How to proceed with DX in Yokohama?)

There are many difficulties in advancing DX in Yokohama, Japan's largest municipality with a population of 3.78 million, but efforts are being made in various ways. Code for YOKOHAMA published the digital technology / ICT policy proposal "Technology-Driven City Yokohama 2030" in 2017, and has continued discussions since then. We evaluated specific efforts based on the proposals, and in August 2021, updated the proposals for the election of the mayor of Yokohama and released it as version 2.0. In this session, we will introduce the process of policy proposals by Civic Tech and specific actions through collaboration between the government and Civic Tech. I would like to work with everyone in Japan to think about what Civic Tech can do for the region in the future and whether there is a future that can be realized by using technology.

Challenge to Civic Tech, starting with Student-Tech at a temple

"PCN Takefu" is a programming school set in a temple in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture, and focuses on Student Tech. I believe that children who grow up with the sense that "what I create will contribute to someone else" will solve local problems in the future with Code for FUKUI, a civic tech soil. Here are some of our past activities. A temple as a "place". Programming class (PCN Takefu) as "learning". Code for FUKUI as a place of "execution". Temples are more common than convenience stores in Japan. Originally, temples functioned as places for people to gather and learn. Today, there are many temples that have become a thing of the past. Echizen City in Fukui Prefecture is an area with many temples. I have been conducting programming classes at temples for the past three years. and now we are working at four temples of different denominations. I hope that the children who will carry the future generation will be able to make good use of historical assets.

Community Formation for Disaster Information Support

The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 was the first case of Disaster Information Support using the Internet on a large scale. At that time, much of the work was done on a spur-of-the-moment, individual basis and was not efficient. Based on this experience, over the past 10 years, a community has been formed among information technology professionals and experts from other fields to prepare an information support system for the next disaster. In the event of a disaster, a system has been established to enable efficient information support activities through collaboration across disciplines. In this session, we will discuss the progress made over the past 10 years and how to improve the system.

Politics and Civic Tech... There is a hurdle between citizens and government when citizens, students, and government think together to solve the problems of the city. If local councilors can act as a lubricant to connect citizens and students with the government, we will be able to create an enjoyable city. In this session, as a concrete example, I talk about the twists and turns that led to the availability of aerial photos of the government for Open Street Map (OSM), and the process of using the provided data as background images for OSM. This model of enjoying the "climate" and "food" of Tohoku and expanding the number of Tohoku fans at once has won the Good Design Award, and by 2019 it will have grown into a major sporting event for Tohoku, attracting 7,000 runners from all over Japan and the world. Since 2017, we have been holding a really running hackathon "Run Hack" with the keyword "Hack the Tohoku Food Marathon!" In 2021, this event was held completely online for the COVID-19 pandemic. How about working while living with nature in Tohoku?

Would you like to live and work in the rich nature of Tohoku? It is not people who heal people, but nature. In order to live in balance, this program proposes living and working in the nature of Tohoku as one of the two or three bases of life. We do not use the word "work vacation" because our life is not a vacation. On the day of the program, we will welcome guests from areas where people are living in abundance with nature, and introduce the charm of each area. In this session, we would also like to hear from engineers about what they need when living in multiple locations and what criteria they use when choosing a region. It would be great if as many engineers as possible could get a chance to know the appeal of the region and build new relationships with the Tohoku from here. <Guest: Ms. Yuko Sasaki (Nishi-Aizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture), Mr. Tadashi Segawa (Nishi-Waga Town, Iwate Prefecture) , Moderator: Tomonori Honda (Marumori Town, Miyagi Prefecture)

Road to the Japan League of Civic Power Battle

In recent years, it has been said that citizens' love for their city (civic pride) is important for the continuous development of the city. "Civic Power Battle" is an event that aims to unearth and disseminate the charm of a city that has been buried until now, mainly through the use of open data. Civic Power Battle is an event where citizens, organizations, companies, and the government cooperate with each other to create a new system for communicating the charms of the city. Last year's Code for Japan SUMMIT 2020 was the first time the event was held on a national scale, and we will look back at the start of the event in 2017 and talk about the future prospects for the spread of Civic Pride.

A new way of working as a tri-sector pioneered by the combined work of government offices and private companies

Many people may have realized that there is a lack of public relations power in the corona disaster, such as vaccination and a special fixed amount of 100 thousand yen. The emergence of many "dual-role players" in public administration, including those in the fields of public relations and marketing, in the private and public sectors, is a symbol of the rapid progress in work style reform that has taken place over the past year. In this panel discussion, two people who have practiced dual jobs in the private sector and as part-time public servants, and a government official who has appointed 40 "sideline workers" to public relations positions, will discuss this topic.

DXで劇的に変化するこれからのアイデンティティ・アクセス管理〜 OktaのCIAMで出来ること 〜

With the use of digital technology, it has become normal for organizations to operate services for users online, and the recent spread of new coronary infections has accelerated the shift to omnichannel. At the same time, crimes targeting digital security vulnerabilities are becoming more common, and in many cases, they are causing significant damage. Okta has an established reputation in the field of identity and access management for corporate employees, and has also implemented Customer Identity Access Management (CIAM) for Major League Baseball and JetBlue. Okta's Customer Identity Access Management (CIAM) solution has been used by Major League Baseball, JetBlue, and many others to support their customers with high customer experience (CX) and security. In this webinar, we will discuss how identity access management is dramatically changing with DX. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

I was a picture restorer at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and I met a lot of friends before the Corona disaster.

I am currently working as Code for Fukushima, and in 2020 I will be running the official Fukushima Prefecture coronavirus countermeasure website. At the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, I was working in the field of painting restoration in Tokyo, and was doing design and website production as a hobby and to earn money for living. After the disaster, I was working alone to set up and operate a website to visualize radiation levels and accumulation. However, there is a limit to what one person can do, and earning a living, supporting others, and most importantly, continuing to work, were impossible for me alone. To be honest, there were many things I could not do, and I was left with nothing but great regret. Ten years later, the Covid-19 pandemic occurred, which tested how much I had dealt with that frustration, and I believe I was able to resolve certain issues. I hope that I can be informative by telling you what I have done to prepare myself to continue as an IT volunteer.

With a focus on Civic Tech and the concept of making IT and DX easy to understand, C-tele 2255 is broadcast on Facebook Live every night from around 10:55pm.This program, which started out as a limited broadcast during a declared state of emergency, has accumulated a lot of knowledge through more than 100 live broadcasts. So, we think share this experience and know-how with those who want to communicate in the future. This framework is open to the public, and like a radio station, you plan and bring in your own programs to the open slots, and we support the broadcasting. Under the restrictions of COVID 19, talking to people online has been highlighted, but what is more important is the content and technic of talking. The shortcut is to become a sender, practice, and get good feedback.I will continue to provide programs, but I also want you to send out your own messages. Now for the special edition of the Summit!
